MY name is Zhenlian,I was born in China in 1948. I was graduated from Teachers Training College in Hong Kong as a qualified art teacher. I have been both Primary and Secondary school art teacher in China. In 1976, I went to further my studies in language, French and English in Paris, in the meantime I did not forget my interest in fine art. I visited almost all the galleries in France. I had not entered any Art College in France, but I have gained recognitions from many French Art Institutions. When I was working, I could scarcely find time to paint, I had too many occupations and a lot of daiy chores to attend to. Now that I have retired from my teaching career, I spend all my time in painting and drawing. In fact, painting is my favorite pastime, it almost helps me to attain the status of 'Zen' in Buddhist philosophy. I am practising 'Zen' which is a branch thought of the Buddhist philosophy. The concept of 'Zen' is to live every moment of your life as it is eternity, there is no beginning and no end. There are no regrets for the past and no frettings about the future. I go to my canvas for a sort of escape, when I am at my canvas, I forget that time is running , and when I finish a painting I feel bliss and content. The moment you feel perfection in your life, that is 'Zen" Of course we cannot feel perfection every moments of our lives, but in the life of creation, there are always moments of perfections. Statement I am an idealistic dreamer. I only put beautiful imageries into my paintings. I like to experiment with different medias, such as acrylic and ink on Chinese papers. But I like oil paintings most, I like the richness of its colours and its flexibility, that is to say you can paint your canvas a thousand times to arrive at a satisfactory result. I love to cover my canvas with a profusion of colours in their dream-like imageries. I enjoy creating a romantic and poetic atmosphere in all my paintings. Like Renoir, I believe that a painting should be beautiful. Most of my paintings are semi-abstract in styles, they are juxtapositions of the symbolic and the realistic. I like folklores and fairy tales and I sometimes like to incorporate some of these elements into my paintings. In my animal fantasy paintings I enjoy adding a humorous touch to my characters. In fact . All my paintings are not just simple reproductions of the real world , they are integrations of the real and the imaginative. I have had no training at all in Chinese paintings, recently I have started doing Chinese paintings and I find that I love it. The diffusion of ink and colours on paper give results which are different from oil on canvas, but I have a lot of satisfaction in doing it. In fact Chinese painting is the integration of the symbolic and the real which fits very well with my temper. All my paintings are not just reproductions of the reality, they are integrations of elements which reflect my inclinations for surrealistic imageries. I am trying to arrange my paintings by thematic exhibitions. My other thematic sites are : www.yilianart.com www.zhenart.com |
